Cow Chase

In 2004, Daniel and Nathan Fearon had already achieved a lot in the video game and animation field. First the extremely popular Sven Co-op was released in 1999, and they had also created six Horatio Worm animations for Animation Station by Raconteur Productions.

One of the more unexpected projects they worked on for Raconteur Productions was Cow Chase. A number of different possible show ideas were discussed with Raconteur, who were interested in the script for Moose Hunt. They felt something was missing, however, and Cow Parade was becoming quite popular in New Zealand at the time.

The Fearon brothers rewrote the script, changing the story but keeping the spirit of Moose Hunt. Beginning the process of creating the episodes brought on a lot of new challenges, as creating and animating humans was far more difficult than worms, and the entire production had to be part-time while Nathan and Daniel both worked in their family business.

The end result was a series of episodes which may not have been technically impressive from an animation point of view, but had its own unique style and a quirky charm. Daniel and Nathan continued to focus on that quirky charm for many of their later projects.
